About this product.

Broad-spectrum sun protection: UVA, UVB, and blue light

Protecting your skin from harmful radiation is vital for maintaining healthy skin.

UVB rays cause sunburn and immediate skin damage, while UVA rays penetrate deeper and contribute to premature aging. Prolonged exposure to UVB can lead to skin aging, burning, and an increased risk of skin cancer. UVA radiation, present all year round, can cause damage without visible signs like sunburn.

In addition to UV radiation, there is growing concern about exposure to blue light, which comes from both the sun and electronic devices. Blue light can contribute to skin aging, inflammation, and pigmentation issues.

Protecting against all three forms of radiation is essential to maintain healthy, youthful skin. That’s why it’s important to choose broad-spectrum sun protection and to limit blue light exposure by using screen filters or specialized sunscreens.

Differences in filters: chemical, mineral, nano

Sunscreens use different types of filters to protect your skin: chemical filters and mineral filters (nano/non-nano).

Chemical filters absorb UV radiation and convert it into heat to protect the skin. However, they can cause skin irritation, allergies, and hormonal disruptions. Some are also harmful to coral reefs.

Mineral filters, such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, sit on the skin and reflect UV rays. Tinge uses non-nano particles, which remain on the skin’s surface, to avoid potential health risks and environmental damage. These filters provide effective protection against both UVA and UVB rays without being absorbed into the skin. This reduces the risk of allergic reactions and skin irritation, and is safer for the environment as it doesn’t harm coral reefs.

Tinge firmly chooses 100% mineral, non-nano filters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about the Tinge Mineral Sunscreen SPF50+.

Tinge creates skincare that works. We combine the power of nature with science, using natural ingredients and a high concentration of active compounds that truly make a difference. Tinge brings together the expertise of experienced pharmacists and engineers to develop products that are effective, clinically proven, and deliver maximum efficiency in targeting skin aging, pigmentation, and acne.

With at least 95% natural ingredients, our formulas respect not only the skin but also the environment. Every ingredient is carefully selected by our team of pharmacists based on proven efficacy and is gentle on the skin, even sensitive skin. Our products contain no irritating or harmful additives such as mineral oils, silicones, parabens, SLS/SLES, or drying alcohols. Thanks to the high concentration of active ingredients, our products are particularly effective and promote visibly healthy and radiant skin.

Aqua Purificata is ultra-pure water produced by us, with minimal impurities, minerals, and contaminants. Compared to what is commonly used in the cosmetics industry, it meets much higher purity standards. This makes it ideal for sensitive skin, as it contains almost no ions or pollutants, significantly reducing the risk of allergic reactions and skin irritations. The purity of Aqua Purificata ensures that active ingredients in skincare products can work more effectively because there is less interference from impurities or minerals. As a result, ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamins, and moisturizing agents can perform optimally, contributing to visibly healthier and more radiant skin.

Using natural skincare products is important, but we strive to use only natural ingredients that are mild and well compatible with the skin Carefully selected natural ingredients are often rich in nourishing compounds such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help keep the skin healthy, protected, and rejuvenated. They are also free from harmful or irritating chemicals, fragrances, and colorants, making them ideal for sensitive skin types.

Natural products are not only good for your skin but also for the environment. Nature recognizes and processes natural ingredients naturally, making them more sustainable. They put less strain on nature and are often sourced responsibly.

Tinge is fully developed and produced in Antwerp, Belgium, with great attention to local production and high quality. The brand values not only the best formulas but also sustainable processes. For example, production is powered entirely by solar energy, helping to reduce the ecological footprint. Tinge ensures that every step of the production — from design to packaging and distribution — is carefully monitored. This benefits quality and provides transparency, so consumers know they are choosing a product that is good not only for the skin but also for the environment.

A mineral sunscreen (also called a physical sunscreen) contains active ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which stay on the skin’s surface and reflect UV radiation. Unlike chemical sunscreens, which absorb UV rays, mineral sunscreens form a physical barrier on the skin that reflects harmful rays.

Non-nano mineral sunscreens, like those from Tinge, provide immediate protection after application, unlike chemical sunscreens which require 20-30 minutes to be absorbed. This makes them ideal for last-minute use before going outdoors.

  • Mineral sunscreens contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as active ingredients, which physically reflect UV rays.
  • Chemical sunscreens contain ingredients like avobenzone, octinoxate, and octocrylene, which absorb UV rays and convert them into heat, which is then released from the skin.

Additionally, mineral sunscreens work immediately, unlike chemical sunscreens.

  • Less irritation: Mineral sunscreens are generally gentler on the skin and may be a better choice for people with sensitive skin or conditions such as rosacea or acne.
  • Broad protection: Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays, important for protecting the skin from both burning and aging. Tinge sunscreens also offer protection against blue light.

Yes, mineral sunscreens are suitable for oily skin types because they often contain less oil than chemical sunscreens. Moreover, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide help regulate skin’s sebum production, which can help keep oily skin balanced. It is important to choose a light, non-comedogenic mineral sunscreen like Tinge’s to avoid clogged pore

Yes, mineral sunscreens protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays, both of which contribute to skin aging. UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and cause aging by breaking down collagen and elastin. UVB rays cause sunburn. By blocking both types of radiation, mineral sunscreens help prevent signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation spots.

Yes, mineral sunscreens are often recommended for children, especially because they do not contain irritating chemical filters. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are gentle on the skin, making them ideal for sensitive children’s skin. Many mineral sunscreens are specially formulated for children with milder compositions and extra protection.

SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks about 98%. Higher SPF values offer only a small increase in protection but often give a false sense of security. It is more important to reapply regularly than to choose an extremely high SPF. Mineral sunscreens with SPF 30-50 generally provide sufficient protection when used correctly.

Non-nano mineral filters are UV filters used in larger particle sizes, making them too large to penetrate the skin. This means they stay physically on the skin surface and reflect UV rays without the risk of systemic absorption. Non-nano refers to particle size larger than 100 nanometers, making them safe for humans and the environment. Non-nano mineral filters:

  • Do not penetrate the skin: They remain on the surface and are not absorbed into the body, increasing safety.
  • Are gentle on the skin: They cause less irritation than chemical filters, ideal for sensitive skin.
  • Are more environmentally friendly: They have less impact on coral reefs and other marine ecosystems.

Aloe Vera is a natural extract from the leaves of the Aloe Barbadensis plant. The leaf juice contains over 75 active components, including vitamins (A, C, E, and B-complex), enzymes, minerals, amino acids, sugars, and antioxidants, contributing to its versatile skin benefits. Aloe Vera adds extra benefits to sunscreen by:

  • Immediate soothing: It calms the skin, especially after UV exposure.
  • Hydration in a protective barrier: It prevents dehydration caused by prolonged sun exposure.
  • Supporting natural skin repair processes: It helps repair damaged skin cells, keeping skin smooth and healthy.

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid produced by the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis as protection against environmental stress such as intense UV radiation. It is known for its exceptionally strong antioxidant properties and ability to neutralize free radical damage, making it a valuable ingredient in skincare and sun protection.

In Tinge Mineral Sunscreen, Abyssinian Oil provides additional benefits alongside the UV protection from non-nano mineral filters:

  • Lightweight hydration: It moisturizes without leaving a heavy or greasy layer, perfect for daily use.
  • Barrier protection: The oil strengthens the skin barrier and prevents dryness often caused by sun exposure.
  • Texture improvement: Abyssinian Oil gives the sunscreen a silky finish, making application easier and skin smoother.

Carrot Seed Oil supports sun protection by:

  • Antioxidant protection: It neutralizes free radicals generated by UV radiation, helping to prevent damage to skin cells.
  • Hydration: The fatty acids in the oil help retain moisture in the skin.
  • Skin repair: The carotenoids promote cell regeneration and support skin recovery after UV exposure.

After UV exposure, skin often needs extra hydration and repair. Panthenol provides:

  • Quick relief for dry or irritated skin.
  • Long-lasting hydration, essential for prolonged sun exposure.
  • Protection against moisture loss, helping to keep skin supple and healthy.

Shea butter naturally contains cinnamic acid derivatives that offer mild UV protection (estimated SPF 3-4). While this is not a substitute for sunscreen, it can contribute to protection against UV-related damage.
